Putin Announces AI Alliance with BRICS Nations

President Vladimir Putin announced the formation of the AI Alliance Network at a major AI conference in Moscow, aiming to collaborate with BRICS nations and other countries to develop artificial intelligence and counter U.S. dominance in the sector. The alliance will connect national AI associations and institutions from Brazil, China, India, South Africa, and other nations, facilitating joint research and the distribution of AI products. Despite facing significant challenges due to Western sanctions that limit access to advanced technology and microchips, particularly GPUs, Putin invited global scientists to participate in this initiative. Russia's leading bank, Sberbank, is at the forefront of AI development in the country and has already created generative models like GigaChat. Putin's strategy projects a significant increase in AI investment and aims for substantial contributions to Russia's GDP by 2030, alongside a push to equip a majority of the workforce with AI skills. This move reflects Russia's ambition to position itself as a key player in the global AI landscape.
