Rory McIlroy reveals Trump backs PGA Tour over LIV Golf

McIlroy stated that Trump is not fond of LIV Golf's 54-hole format and believes he aligns more with the PGA Tour's interests. Following their meeting, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Player Director Adam Scott also met with Trump to aid negotiations with the Saudi Public Investment Fund, which backs LIV Golf. McIlroy emphasized Trump's potential influence in these discussions due to his connections, particularly with PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan's superior, Mohammed bin Salman. Despite the ongoing division in professional golf, McIlroy acknowledged that the competition brought by LIV Golf has ultimately benefited players financially. He expressed optimism that all parties can move forward from past grievances to achieve a resolution.
