Indiana Man Arrested in Canada After Capitol Riot

Antony Vo, a 32-year-old man convicted for his role in the January 6 Capitol riot, was arrested in Whistler, British Columbia, on the fourth anniversary of the attack. Vo, who fled to Canada instead of serving a nine-month prison sentence, had applied for political asylum and claimed that the riot was a 'peaceful protest'. He expressed confidence that President-elect Donald Trump would pardon him once he takes office, referring to Trump’s previous statements about Capitol rioters being 'political prisoners'. Vo had been active on social media, taunting the judge who sentenced him and promoting conspiracy theories about the events of January 6. Despite his claims of seeking asylum, U.S. authorities are expected to pursue his extradition. His lawyer has indicated a hearing to address his immigration status is scheduled for January 15.
