American Travis Timmerman Freed from Syrian Detention

Travis Timmerman, a 29-year-old American, was found after being missing for seven months following his detention in Syria, where he had crossed into the country on foot for a Christian pilgrimage. He was released by rebels after they took control of Damascus, which led to the liberation of numerous prisoners from the regime's notorious facilities. Timmerman reported being treated decently during his imprisonment but could hear others being tortured, highlighting the harsh conditions of Syrian prisons. He was last seen in Budapest, Hungary, before his disappearance, which prompted a Missing Persons Bulletin from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Video footage of him in a private house after his release showed he was being cared for and would be safely returned home. U.S. officials have not yet commented on the situation, as the administration continues to seek information on other missing Americans in Syria, including journalist Austin Tice.
