Vietnam Seeks Increased U.S. Imports Amid Trade Talks

Vietnam's government and major corporations are ramping up efforts to increase imports of high-value goods and services from the U.S., aiming to create a more balanced and sustainable trade relationship. Trade Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highlighted that current bilateral trade does not yet reflect its full potential and called on both sides to remove obstacles to facilitate business. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated Vietnam's commitment to a substantive, balanced partnership, urging the U.S. to recognize Vietnam's market economy status and enhance technology transfer. Amid discussions on tariffs and trade deficits, Vietnam also indicated readiness to negotiate for mutual benefit and economic diversification.
