Secret Service Shoots Armed Man Near White House
An Indiana man was shot by U.S. Secret Service agents early Sunday morning near the White House after allegedly brandishing a firearm during an armed confrontation. The man, believed to be suicidal and traveling from Indiana, was identified by local police, prompting the Secret Service to find his vehicle parked near 17th and F Streets NW, close to the White House. As officers approached, the individual drew a gun, leading to shots fired by Secret Service personnel; he was subsequently hospitalized in an unknown condition. No Secret Service agents were injured, and President Donald Trump was in Florida at the time. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the incident as it occurred in their jurisdiction. The shooting follows prior alerts about the man's intentions, though his specific motives remain unclear.
