Tow Truck Dangles Over McKinney Overpass; Driver Safe

On Wednesday afternoon a tow truck crashed and came to dangle off the Sam Rayburn Tollway (Highway 121) over Hardin Boulevard in McKinney, Texas, prompting a dramatic rescue captured by helicopter. Firefighters used two ladder trucks and rescue gear to stabilize the vehicle and pulled driver Martin Vazquez to safety in about 15 minutes. Vazquez suffered only minor injuries, was evaluated at the scene and declined hospital transport. Family members, including his brother Oscar Vazquez, called the survival a miracle. Crews cleaned up diesel and debris and assessed bridge damage, and several lanes remained closed while cleanup and repairs continued into the evening with authorities urging alternate routes.
