Germany Deploys Military Personnel to US-Led Gaza Ceasefire Monitoring Mission

Germany announced it will deploy three unarmed Bundeswehr military personnel, including a brigadier general and two staff officers, to the US-led Civil Military Coordination Center (CMCC) in southern Israel to help monitor compliance with the Gaza ceasefire. The CMCC, led by a US three-star general and hosting about 200 personnel, focuses on ceasefire monitoring, clearing war debris, coordinating humanitarian aid delivery, and supporting the groundwork for a future multinational peacekeeping force within Gaza. Germany's deployment supports the broader international 20-point peace plan for Gaza and does not require parliamentary approval since the personnel will not engage in armed operations. This move follows German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's commitment to political, financial, and technical support for Gaza stabilization while avoiding troop commitments to the International Stabilization Force. The ceasefire agreement was reached during an international summit led by the US and other regional actors, with President Trump declaring the Gaza conflict officially over and warning of possible renewed Israeli military action if Hamas violates the terms. European Union leaders are also expected to discuss ways to support President Trump's peace initiative in the coming week.
