Scheffler, McIlroy to Lead Teams in Timed Golf Challenge at Trump National
The Golf Channel Games, a new rapid-fire golf competition, will take place on December 17, 2025, at Trump National Golf Links in Jupiter, Florida, featuring the world's top two golfers, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, who will captain four-player teams. This primetime event, televised live on Golf Channel and USA Network, introduces innovative formats including Timed Drive, Chip & Putt; 14-Club Challenge; Timed Shootout; and Captains’ Challenge, blending individual precision with team strategy under time pressure and shot clocks. The Timed Drive, Chip & Putt involves solo precision challenges, while the 14-Club Challenge is a closest-to-the-pin competition with players alternating club selections from a limited shared bag. The Timed Shootout features a four-player alternate shot format across three holes with players positioned at tee, fairway, and around the green, aiming for the best score in the shortest time. The Captains’ Challenge pits Scheffler and McIlroy against each other in various shot types, with the lowest combined proximity to the hole determining the winner. Both players and organizers emphasize the event's fresh approach to golf, likening it to other major sports showcases, aiming to offer fans an exciting, new way to experience the game.
