Disney Updates DEI Programs and Film Advisories

Disney is updating its content advisories for older films like 'Dumbo' and 'Peter Pan' on its streaming platform, Disney+, as part of a broader shift in its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy. The new advisory will read, 'This program is presented as originally created and may contain stereotypes or negative depictions,' replacing the previous version that highlighted potential negative depictions or mistreatment of cultures more explicitly. This change comes amid a wider rollback of DEI initiatives in response to President Donald Trump's executive order against such programs. Disney Chief Human Resources Officer Sonia Coleman announced that Disney will replace its DEI performance metrics with a 'Talent Strategy' focusing more on business success. Disney is also ending its 'Reimagine Tomorrow' initiative, which aimed to amplify underrepresented voices. These changes reflect Disney's renewed emphasis on entertainment-driven content devoid of a perceived agenda.
