Spike Lee to Lead Red Sea Film Festival Jury
Spike Lee has been appointed as the president of the jury for the fourth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, which will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from December 5 to 14. Lee expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, emphasizing the importance of showcasing young and emerging filmmakers from diverse backgrounds as part of the festival's mission to create a cultural melting pot. The competition lineup includes 16 films, such as 'Superboys of Malegaon' and 'Moon', both of which had their premieres at prestigious festivals earlier this year. Jomana Al Rashid, chairwoman of the Red Sea Film Foundation, praised Lee's contributions to cinema and highlighted his role in championing new voices in the industry. This year’s festival will also feature special appearances by notable actors, including Viola Davis and Mona Zaki. Last year, the festival awarded Zarrar Khan’s 'In Flames' with the top honor, the Yusr Award for Best Feature.
