Dozens of mayors from the Los Angeles region have united in calling on President Donald Trump's administration to halt intensified immigration raids that have sparked fear and widespread protests. Despite their pleas, the administration has shown no indication of stopping these operations. Approximately 500 National Guard troops deployed to manage the protests have also been trained to support immigration enforcement, with some already participating, though future involvement remains uncertain. Protests have sometimes turned chaotic, with police using force such as wooden batons and crowd-control projectiles, leading to injuries and arrests in downtown Los Angeles. Mayor Karen Bass and other local leaders have condemned the raids and the use of armed military personnel, maintaining a city curfew over the protest area to restore order. These leaders emphasize the raids' impact on community fear and call on the federal government to cease what they describe as terrorizing residents.
