South Park Shortens Seasons; Episode Pulled After Death
South Park’s 27th season concluded after five episodes when the Oct. 15 release “Twisted Christian” was designated as the premiere of season 28. A representative told The Hollywood Reporter that both seasons 27 and 28 were always planned as five-episode runs, reflecting a post‑pandemic shift to shorter specials and a biweekly release schedule intended to give creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone greater flexibility for topical satire. Parker and Stone’s $1.5 billion Paramount+ agreement secures 50 new episodes over five years, though those episodes are being distributed as shorter seasons and specials. Season 27 drew controversy when a Charlie Kirk–centered episode was pulled from Comedy Central after his death; that episode reportedly remains available on Paramount+. Comedy Central and the creators did not formally announce episode counts in advance, and season 28 is continuing the storyline with additional episodes slated later this year.
