Suspect Identified in Axe Attack on German Train

A man armed with a hammer and axe attacked passengers on an ICE express train traveling from Hamburg to Vienna in Bavaria, Germany, injuring four people before being detained by police. The attack took place near Straubing with about 500 passengers on board. Passengers intervened, subduing the attacker and seizing at least one weapon; the suspect was seriously injured during the struggle. Emergency services, including 150 personnel and helicopters, responded, closing the railway line and providing psychological care to those affected. The suspect, identified by some sources as a 20-year-old Syrian national, remains in custody and is receiving medical treatment. Authorities have not released a motive, and all injured victims were hospitalized.
