Three Killed, Three Hurt in Reno Resort Shooting

A mass shooting at Reno's Grand Sierra Resort on July 28 left three people dead and three others injured, two critically, after a gunman opened fire in the valet area and then the parking lot. The suspect, whose identity and motive remain unknown, initially experienced a gun malfunction before firing at a group, killing two and wounding three more. The gunman then fled through the parking lot, where he shot and killed a passerby driving by and exchanged gunfire with an armed casino security officer. Police confronted and shot the suspect, who was hospitalized. Authorities said there was no apparent connection between the shooter and the victims. The Grand Sierra Resort was temporarily closed as police investigated the incident.
