Alvin Brown Appointed NTSB Vice Chairman
Former Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown has been appointed by President Joe Biden to serve as the vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Brown, who was the first Black mayor of Jacksonville, held the mayoral position from 2011 to 2015 and was confirmed as a board member of the NTSB by the Senate in March. Prior to his NTSB appointment, Brown served as a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Transportation and was a senior member of the White House leadership during the Clinton administration. He holds degrees from Jacksonville University and Duke University.
