Sergeant Shoots Five Soldiers at Fort Stewart
On Wednesday morning, an active-duty Army sergeant identified as 28-year-old Quornelius Radford from Jacksonville allegedly opened fire with his personal weapon at Fort Stewart, Georgia, injuring five fellow soldiers. The shooting took place in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area, prompting a base-wide lockdown for about an hour until Radford was apprehended at 11:35 a.m. All wounded soldiers were first treated on-site, then transferred to Winn Army Community Hospital, with some later moved to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah; all are in stable condition and expected to recover. Three elementary schools on the base were also locked down as a precaution, but no students or staff were harmed. The motive is still under investigation, and no further threat remains. The incident has prompted renewed discussion about safety and gun violence in the military.
