Cowboys Trade Micah Parsons to Packers for Picks, Kenny Clark
Michael Irvin, a Dallas Cowboys legend, confidently guaranteed on ESPN's NFL Live that star pass rusher Micah Parsons would not be traded, only for Parsons to be traded to the Green Bay Packers minutes later in one of the biggest trades in franchise history. Parsons was exchanged for two first-round draft picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark, and he agreed to a four-year, $188 million contract with Green Bay. Irvin had recently spoken with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who had dismissed earlier trade offers, leading Irvin to believe Parsons would remain with Dallas. However, ongoing dissatisfaction between Parsons and Cowboys management, including Parsons sitting out training camp and requesting a trade, culminated in the deal. The trade shocked Cowboys fans and analysts, as many viewed it as a significant and surprising move that could strengthen the Packers' defense and NFC North title chances. Despite Irvin's misjudgment and subsequent embarrassment, he expressed his shock and concern over the emotional and personal elements that influenced the trade decision.
