McKinney Announces $200 Million Surf Park Development

The City of McKinney, Texas, is set to partner with developer Cole Cannon on a $200 million multi-use development named Cannon Beach, which will feature a 35-acre surf lagoon, a resort-style hotel, and various dining and entertainment options. Scheduled to break ground in 2025 at the northeast corner of Stacy Road and S.H. 121, the project aims to attract tourists and create over 700 jobs while generating an estimated $2 billion in economic impact over the next two decades. The centerpiece of Cannon Beach will be a four-acre surf lagoon, complemented by a rooftop pool, sandy beach, and a range of water-focused attractions, including cliff diving. The development is seen as a transformative initiative that will address the community's demand for family-friendly activities and position McKinney as a premier destination for recreation. Plans also include additional entertainment facilities like a skateboard park and indoor recreation spaces. Finalization of the site plans and incentive agreements is expected by early 2025.
