Armenia, Azerbaijan Initial Peace Agreement, Text To Publish August 11
The Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan have initialed a historic Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations, committing to recognize each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of international borders, and agreeing not to make any future territorial claims. The agreement, which was initialed in Washington by the foreign ministers of both countries in the presence of their leaders and the United States, aims to establish just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region. The text of the agreement is set to be publicly released on the evening of August 11, following mutual consent by both parties. It will enter into force after the completion of internal procedures in line with each country's national legislation and will be registered in accordance with Article 102 of the United Nations Charter. This agreement signifies a mutual commitment to good-neighborliness and the cessation of any acts undermining territorial integrity or political independence. Additionally, discussions include potential oversight of the Zangezur corridor by a US company, reflecting ongoing international involvement in the peace process.
