Sacramento ABC Station Shooter Arrested; Threats Target Trump Officials
Anibal Hernandez Santana, 63–64, is accused of firing multiple shots toward and into the ABC10/KXTV Sacramento station lobby on Sept. 19; no one was injured but employees sheltered in place and investigators say the first discharge occurred within a school zone. Sacramento police arrested him on state charges; after he posted $200,000 bail federal agents re‑arrested him and charged him with possessing and discharging a firearm in a school zone and interfering with a radio communications station. Investigators say they recovered handwritten notes in his car and planner, including one reading "For hiding Epstein… Do not support Patel, Bongino, & AG Pam Bondi. They’re next." and a calendar entry reading "Do the Next Scary Thing," and reported anti‑Trump posts on a purported X account. A search of his home and court filings reportedly turned up a satchel and a nine‑millimeter handgun matching casings found at the scene, and authorities identified him via surveillance footage and witness accounts. Local prosecutors have pointed to the notes and social‑media posts as a possible political motive, while defense counsel called the simultaneous state and federal arrests "highly unusual." The incident occurred amid protests over ABC’s brief suspension and subsequent reinstatement of Jimmy Kimmel.
