Russia Launches Massive Drone, Missile Attacks Across Ukraine Killing Civilians, Damaging Infrastructure
Russia has launched a massive drone and missile assault on Ukraine, with over 600 drones and missiles targeting various regions including Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, and Zaporizhzhia, resulting in at least three civilian deaths and multiple injuries. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted a significant portion of the attack, shooting down hundreds of drones and missiles, yet some strikes still hit civilian infrastructure and residential areas, exemplifying Russia's ongoing strategy to pressure Ukraine by targeting civilian targets, which may constitute war crimes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks as deliberate terror tactics and called for increased Western support in air defense and sanctions against Russia. The attacks followed a Russian violation of Estonia’s airspace, which Moscow denied, amid ongoing fierce combat engagements reported by Ukraine’s military. Additionally, former U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Russian incursions into Estonian airspace could lead to "big trouble," while his envoy suggested that Putin’s nuclear posturing should be confronted directly. The conflict continues with intense fighting across multiple fronts, significant Russian losses, and urgent international calls for stronger defensive measures for Ukraine.
