Severe Flooding Hits U.S. Northeast and India

Severe storms and historic rainfall have caused catastrophic flooding and disruptions across the U.S. Northeast and several regions of India. In the U.S., flash floods in New York and New Jersey resulted in at least two deaths, widespread transport disruptions, and a state of emergency in New Jersey, with ongoing risks due to saturated conditions. Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York City also experienced significant travel delays, infrastructure damage, and water rescues. In India, heavy rains and landslides have halted traffic on National Highway 75 between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, inundated residential areas in Mangaluru and Udupi, and caused urban flooding in Kochi and Delhi. Emergency services in both countries are working to clear debris, restore normalcy, and address continued threats from further storms. Authorities warn that elevated flood and landslide risks may persist as adverse weather continues.
