Greater Idaho Movement Seeks Trump's Support

The Greater Idaho movement is urging President-elect Donald Trump to support their initiative to relocate the Oregon-Idaho border, incorporating eastern Oregon counties into Idaho due to political and cultural differences between the regions. Since 2020, 13 counties have passed measures to discuss the border change, although legislative approvals from both states and the U.S. Congress are necessary. Leaders of the movement, including Mike McCarter and Matt McCaw, emphasize Trump's problem-solving capabilities and hope his involvement will bring resolution to Oregon's longstanding east-west divide. Despite Idaho's legislative approval to discuss the matter, Oregon's government has yet to formally engage. Advocates believe that aligning eastern Oregon with Idaho better reflects their political values and could reduce regional tensions.
