Springsteen Biopic; Soundtrack Tracks Debut Oct. 24
Jeremy Allen White headlines Scott Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, a focused biopic about the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska, which opens Oct. 24. The film co-stars Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau alongside Stephen Graham, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young and others. White performs the vocals on the film’s soundtrack—12 Springsteen classics produced by Dave Cobb—with five tracks debuting Oct. 24 and the full album due Dec. 5 via Columbia Records. The soundtrack centers on Nebraska-era songs but also includes Born in the U.S.A. selections and covers such as "Lucille," "Boom Boom" and "I Put a Spell on You," featuring contributions from Jay Buchanan and Jake & Sam Kiszka. Springsteen reportedly gave White his blessing to play him, and the film’s release is being accompanied by Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition. Early coverage praises White’s transformative, emotionally taxing lead performance and describes the film as intimate and somber rather than a cradle-to-grave portrait.
