Tornadoes Linked to Tropical Storm Debby Cause Damage
A tornado caused significant damage in Wilson County, North Carolina, early Thursday morning, severely impacting Springfield Middle School and several homes in Lucama. No injuries were reported, but authorities have issued a tornado watch for Wilson and surrounding counties until Friday afternoon. The tornado is linked to Tropical Storm Debby, which also caused another EF-1 tornado on Edisto Island, South Carolina, with peak winds of 97-100 mph. This second tornado traveled 2.89 miles, destroying homes and businesses but fortunately causing no injuries. Residents in both Wilson County and Edisto Island are beginning cleanup efforts and assessing the damage.
