BT Removes DEI Targets from Managerial Bonus Scheme

BT has announced it will eliminate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) targets from its managerial bonus scheme, effective April. Previously, DEI metrics accounted for 10% of the bonuses for its 37,400 managers, focusing on underrepresented groups' representation and engagement. The company will now emphasize a general employee engagement survey instead, although DEI measures will still apply to its senior management bonuses. This decision comes amidst a broader trend of companies reassessing DEI initiatives, with notable examples from major firms like Meta and Amazon. Despite this change, BT's CEO Allison Kirkby has reiterated the company's commitment to inclusion and representation, stating that the new approach is part of a strategic overhaul. The changes have reportedly received strong support from BT's shareholders.
