Samsung Co-CEO Han Jong-hee Dies at 63

Samsung Electronics faces a leadership transition following the death of co-CEO Han Jong-hee, who passed away from a heart attack while receiving treatment in a hospital. Han joined Samsung in 1988 and was pivotal in advancing the company's TV business, serving as the head of its consumer electronics and mobile devices division. His passing leaves Jun Young-hyun as the sole CEO, who was appointed co-CEO just last week to address ongoing challenges, including a struggling semiconductor division and competitive pressures in the smartphone market. Analysts suggest Han's absence might affect Samsung's marketing and home appliance strategies, with the company yet to announce his successor. Samsung's stock has been underperforming due to challenges in the AI semiconductor market and its loss of smartphone leadership to Apple.
