Greg Norman, the iconic Australian golfer, has been appointed to the organizing committee for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, a significant role following his recent departure as CEO of LIV Golf. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese selected Norman to fill a vacancy on the 24-person board, highlighting his extensive experience in sports. Norman expressed pride in contributing to the Games, which will take place in his home state of Queensland, where he began his golf career. Sports Minister Anika Wells emphasized Norman's global sporting success and business acumen as valuable assets for the Olympic and Paralympic movements. The organizing committee, led by Andrew Liveris, is optimistic about overcoming challenges in venue preparations, particularly related to the Gabba stadium. The Brisbane Games will mark Australia's third hosting of the Olympics, following Sydney in 2000 and Melbourne in 1956.
