Iran Reaffirms Commitment to Nuclear Deal Amid US Pressure

Iran has reaffirmed its commitment to the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), asserting that it will comply with its obligations if other signatories respect Iran's rights. Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, emphasized that the country has always maintained a peaceful nuclear program, supported by numerous inspections from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He criticized U.S. sanctions and pressure, which he claimed have been ineffective and counterproductive, insisting that Iran has the right to pursue its foreign policy. In contrast, U.S. officials, including National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, have called for the complete dismantlement of Iran's nuclear program, warning of consequences if Iran does not comply. Waltz stressed that Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a significant threat to regional security, while Iranian leaders have dismissed U.S. demands and suggested that negotiations could be possible under different conditions. The ongoing tensions have been exacerbated by recent conflicts involving Iranian proxies and U.S. military threats.
