NASA Astronauts Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore Set to Return March 12

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for over eight months due to technical issues with their Boeing Starliner capsule, are set to return to Earth on March 19. Their return is contingent upon the Crew-10 mission, which is scheduled to launch on March 12 and will carry a new team of astronauts to the ISS. After a week-long handover process, during which Williams and Wilmore will transition their duties to the new crew, they will board the Dragon spacecraft for their return. NASA’s Commercial Crew Program head praised SpaceX for its flexibility in adjusting the mission plan, allowing the use of a previously flown Dragon spacecraft instead of a new one. The extended mission has drawn attention, with former President Trump urging SpaceX to expedite their return. Despite the challenges, both astronauts have maintained high spirits during their time in space.
