Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis did not attend a Georgia state Senate hearing on Friday regarding allegations of misconduct in her prosecution of former President Donald Trump. The Republican-led committee, which formed to investigate her handling of the 2020 election interference case, issued a subpoena for Willis to testify and produce documents, which she is actively challenging in court. Willis' legal team contends the subpoena is overly broad and potentially unlawful. The committee maintains it has the authority to compel her testimony and plans to enforce the subpoena through judicial means. Willis has stated she will not comply until a court rules on the validity of the subpoena. In the meantime, she attended a Congressional Black Caucus event in Washington, D.C.
