FEMA Approves Disaster Aid for 20 Missouri Counties After Spring Storms

President Donald Trump has approved Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual Assistance for 20 counties in southeast and south-central Missouri to aid residents affected by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding between March 30 and April 8, 2025. This assistance covers disaster-related expenses such as housing repairs, temporary housing, rental assistance, medical costs, and replacement of damaged belongings and vehicles. Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe expressed gratitude for the approval, noting it will provide millions of dollars to families rebuilding after one of the state's most devastating storms. Eligible residents can apply for FEMA assistance online or via phone and also have access to low-interest disaster loans through the Small Business Administration for repairing or replacing homes and property. Additionally, President Trump approved a disaster declaration for North Dakota following August storms that caused significant damage, although federal aid release is delayed due to the government shutdown. State officials continue to work on reimbursement requests for prior storms, with no aid disbursed yet because of the shutdown.
