Lewisville Police Shoot Woman After Multi-City Chase

A woman was fatally shot by Lewisville police early Thursday morning following a multi-city car chase that began with a traffic stop for suspected felony warrants. The pursuit, which started shortly after midnight, led police through several North Texas jurisdictions before the suspect collided with a Lewisville patrol vehicle and was eventually stopped in a commercial parking lot off I-35E. As officers attempted to arrest her, she allegedly produced a handgun and refused repeated commands to drop it, prompting officers to fire. The woman was struck, received medical aid at the scene, and later died at a hospital. No officers were injured in the incident. The Texas Rangers and Lewisville Police Department are jointly investigating, and the involved officers are on administrative leave pending the outcome.
