Florida Man Arrested for Threatening Trump Online

Shannon Depararro Atkins, a 46-year-old Florida man, was arrested after allegedly making threats on Facebook against President Donald Trump. The investigation began following a tip to the FBI's National Threat Operations Center on January 19, which led to surveillance and Atkins' arrest during a traffic stop on January 20. He faces charges for making written threats and drug possession, with police discovering cocaine at the time of his arrest. During questioning, he claimed his comments were jokes, a notion dismissed by police Chief Tony Araujo, who emphasized the seriousness of such threats.
