Bruce Springsteen Releases Lost Seven-Album Set Featuring 'Adelita'
Bruce Springsteen is set to release Tracks II: The Lost Albums on June 27, a seven-LP collection of previously unreleased records spanning from 1983 to 2018. The latest preview from the set is "Adelita," a mariachi-infused song from the 1990s album Inyo, which was inspired by Springsteen's motorcycle trips across the Southwest and focuses on themes such as the Mexican diaspora and border crossing impacts. Inyo, originally intended as a follow-up to 1995's The Ghost of Tom Joad, features collaborations with several mariachi musicians and highlights stories like those of the soldaderas, female fighters in the Mexican Revolution. Springsteen wrote much of Inyo during long drives along the California aqueduct, drawing from the political and social environment of the region, including border reporting in the Los Angeles Times. Tracks II also includes six other shelved albums, showcasing a diverse range of musical styles and themes, with previous song releases from the compilation including "Blind Spot," "Faithless," and "Repo Man." Currently, Springsteen is touring Europe with the E Street Band, where he addresses political issues in the U.S., adding context to his ongoing artistic output.
