Supreme Court Criticizes CBI, Reviews HC Remarks

The Karnataka High Court is under scrutiny following controversial remarks by Justice V. Srishananda, leading the Advocates Association, Bengaluru (AAB) to request a halt to live streaming of court proceedings, citing misuse by private YouTube channels. Concurrently, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of a video showing Justice Srishananda's sexist remarks to a woman lawyer, demanding a report from the Karnataka High Court. Separately, the Supreme Court rebuked the CBI for making blanket allegations against the judiciary in West Bengal, saying it cast aspersions on the entire state’s judicial system. The CBI withdrew its petition seeking the transfer of post-poll violence cases outside West Bengal after the court's strong critique.
