Zelenskyy prioritizes air defense in Ramstein talks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined key priorities for the upcoming Ramstein meeting, emphasizing the need to advance air defense capabilities, particularly through the acquisition of Patriot missile systems, and to discuss military contingents. He instructed the Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs to enhance communication with international partners to address these urgent tasks. Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of U.S. support in strengthening Ukraine's air defense to protect civilians from Russian missile strikes. The meeting, part of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, aims to coordinate military assistance and ensure long-term security support for Ukraine amidst ongoing hostilities. Despite U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegset's absence from the meeting, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg reassured that military aid to Ukraine will continue. Zelenskyy also noted the need for ongoing pressure on Russia to facilitate peace and security in the region.
