UAE, Russia Pledge to Double Trade Amid US Tariff Threats

Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Moscow to strengthen the already deepening economic and strategic partnership between Russia and the UAE. The two countries pledged to double their trade volume over the next five years, building on a recent increase with trade reaching $11.5 billion. This growth follows a 68% year-on-year jump in 2022 and reflects expanding cooperation in investment, energy, education, culture, and regional security. Despite pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, including tariff threats, the UAE continues to prioritize its strategic partnership with Russia, underscored by growing bilateral investments and collaboration through platforms like the United Nations and BRICS. The UAE remains a key economic partner for Russia in the Middle East, while maintaining its alliances and calling for peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Both leaders expressed optimism for continued accelerated development of their relationship and broader Eurasian ties.
