Ukraine Strikes Bryansk, Unveils Long-Range Drone
Ukraine said it used British-French Storm Shadow cruise missiles to strike a chemical plant in Russia’s Bryansk region that Kyiv says produces gunpowder, explosives and rocket-fuel components, and that the weapons penetrated Russian air defenses. Russia’s regional governor and defence ministry acknowledged strikes on Bryansk, reported intercepting drones and missiles, and videos of fires circulated online, though independent verification of damage or casualties is limited. Kyiv framed the attack as part of an escalating campaign of deep strikes on Russian military‑industrial facilities using Western long‑range munitions and is pressing the U.S. for Tomahawk missiles, which President Trump has so far declined to provide. Separately, Ukraine unveiled an upgraded 'sea baby' naval drone reportedly capable of more than 1,500 km range with up to a 2,000 kg payload as part of a push to use unmanned boats and drones against Russian ships and strategic Black Sea targets. Russia responded with large-scale missile and drone barrages across Ukraine, including strikes that killed and injured civilians and damaged infrastructure, highlighting how long-range strikes have escalated violence and complicated diplomacy. Moscow says it is still preparing for a possible Trump–Putin meeting even as the summit’s prospects remain uncertain.
