Man Receives Five-Year Sentence After Shooting Incident at Riviera Beach School

Delroy Clive Thomas, 30, was sentenced to five years in state prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an incident at Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach, where he unlawfully entered the school grounds and became combative with a police officer. During the confrontation in April 2024, the officer discharged their firearm, hitting Thomas twice. He faced charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, and trespassing. The Riviera Beach Police Department expressed appreciation for the swift responses from various law enforcement agencies involved in the case. Thomas was also ordered to pay a $200 prosecution cost.
