Hurricane Francine Hits Louisiana, Causes Severe Flooding

Hurricane Francine made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 2 storm, causing severe flooding, power outages, and significant damage throughout southeastern Louisiana. New Orleans and Jefferson Parish experienced substantial street flooding due to heavy rains, with some areas receiving more than 8 inches of rain and rainfall rates exceeding the drainage system's capacity. St. Charles Parish also reported flash floods and water entering homes. Over 200,000 people lost power, and widespread damage was documented, including roof damage and colliding boats. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry urged residents to take necessary precautions and stay off the roads. The storm is expected to weaken as it moves northeast into Mississippi, with conditions improving by Thursday morning.
