Virginia Judge Allows CIA to Fire Doctor Amid Vaccine Mandate Lawsuit
Dr. Terry Adirim, director of the CIA’s Center for Global Health Services, is suing the CIA and conservative activist Ivan Raiklin, alleging her firing was influenced by far-right political pressure and targeted harassment related to her advocacy for the COVID-19 vaccine. Adirim claims that Raiklin and others leaked private information about her recruitment and subjected her to public abuse, which she says contributed to her dismissal shortly after a White House meeting involving conservative activist Laura Loomer. The CIA denies any connection between the public campaign against Adirim and her termination, citing multiple internal complaints about her conduct. U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff has issued a temporary injunction blocking Adirim’s firing while the case proceeds, though he declined to grant a restraining order that would keep her employed permanently. The judge emphasized that his ruling was procedural and did not address the merits of the lawsuit, which centers on claims of due process violations and invasion of privacy. Adirim’s legal team continues to press the case, while the CIA maintains that the decision to terminate her was based on internal concerns rather than external political pressure.
