Inflation Falls While Coffee, Beef, Car Repairs Soar in US

Inflation in the U.S. has cooled to a four-year low following President Donald Trump’s recent tariffs, with the overall Consumer Price Index showing decreases in some areas such as egg prices, which fell about 10% in April. However, prices for certain everyday goods like coffee and beef continue to rise sharply due to supply shortages caused by droughts in major producing countries like Vietnam, Brazil, and key U.S. beef regions. Coffee prices increased nearly 10% year-over-year, with instant coffee prices rising even faster, while ground beef prices surged 10% and beef steak prices rose 7%. Experts note that while some prices climb faster than overall inflation, the impact varies depending on how much these items weigh in individual budgets. Meanwhile, in Israel, inflation rose above expectations in April, with a Consumer Price Index increase of 1.1% month-over-month and 3.6% year-over-year, driven by higher costs in transport, housing, and food categories. Regional home prices in Israel also saw significant increases, especially in northern regions and major cities such as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
