Heckler Disrupts DeSantis Hulk Hogan Tribute Florida Detention Center

Governor Ron DeSantis faced a disruptive heckler at a tribute event for wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, where the man accused him of supporting a controversial immigrant detention center dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz" and alluded to President Donald Trump's association with Jeffrey Epstein. "Alligator Alcatraz" is a detention facility located in the Florida Everglades, funded with nearly $250 million, and designed to hold up to 5,000 detainees, although it currently houses over 700. The center, built quickly on a remote airfield, has drawn criticism from Democrats, environmental groups, and civil rights organizations, citing environmental concerns and alleged violations of detainees' rights. DeSantis has positioned immigration enforcement as a key issue since Trump resumed the presidency, signing strict anti-illegal immigration legislation and deputizing local law enforcement for immigration operations. On July 25, DeSantis and several Florida officials held a press conference at the detention center, underscoring its importance in the state's immigration strategy. The facility is part of a broader effort that also includes plans for another ICE detention center at Camp Blanding.
