Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired domestic distribution rights for 'Magazine Dreams,' a film featuring Jonathan Majors as an aspiring bodybuilder, set for release in early 2025. The film, which premiered at Sundance to positive reviews, explores the psychological and physical struggles of its protagonist, Killian Maddox, who becomes obsessed with bodybuilding, leading to a series of personal challenges including steroid use. Originally acquired by Searchlight Pictures, the film was dropped following Majors' conviction for assault and harassment, which significantly impacted his career. Despite the controversy, Briarcliff's Tom Ortenberg sees 'Magazine Dreams' as a valuable project that resonates with deeper themes of ambition and identity. The film has garnered accolades, including the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Creative Vision at Sundance and maintains an 82% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
