Jimmy Carter's State Funeral Begins in Georgia

Funeral services for former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at age 100 on December 29, are underway, beginning with a motorcade from Georgia to his hometown of Plains. The six-day tribute includes a stop at his family farm where a bell will ring 39 times in his honor. Following a service in Atlanta, Carter will lie in repose at the Carter Presidential Center, allowing the public to pay their respects before being transported to Washington, D.C. for a state funeral. In the Capitol, he will lie in state, marking him as the 13th U.S. president to receive this honor. The national funeral service is scheduled for Thursday at the National Cathedral in Washington.
