Apple, Corning Expand U.S. Glass Production Partnership
Apple has announced a $2.5 billion investment to manufacture all iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass at Corning's Harrodsburg, Kentucky facility, marking the first time 100% of these components will be produced in the U.S. The expansion will double the local workforce and include an Apple-Corning Innovation Center focused on developing advanced materials for future products. This initiative is part of Apple’s $600 billion domestic investment plan over the next four years and its broader American Manufacturing Program aimed at boosting U.S. manufacturing and jobs. Corning’s stock surged after the announcement, outpacing the broader electronics industry and reflecting investor confidence. Corning will dedicate its entire Kentucky facility to Apple production, strengthening its role in Apple's supply chain, including for advanced silicon chips. Both companies underscore the significance of this move for American manufacturing and high-tech innovation.
