UK Policy Exchange Proposes Single-Sex Sports Categories

Think tank Policy Exchange has called for the withdrawal of taxpayer funding from UK parkruns that do not update course records to reflect biological sex. They also recommended that the government require all national sporting bodies to ensure there is a female single-sex category. This comes in light of concerns that gender self-identification risks denying women and girls fair competition in grassroots sports. Olympic athletes Sharron Davies and Martina Navratilova are leading calls for stricter rules. Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer stated that while sport should be open to all, gender identity could not be reconciled with competitive fairness.
