Scott Turner Nominated to Lead HUD

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Scott Turner, a former NFL player and Texas state representative, to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Turner previously served as the executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during Trump's first term, where he oversaw initiatives that directed over $50 billion in private investment into distressed communities. Trump praised Turner's efforts, stating he helped lead an 'Unprecedented Effort that Transformed our Country’s most distressed communities.' Additionally, Turner chairs the Center for Education Opportunity and is the founder of a community engagement organization. This nomination marks Turner as the highest-ranking Black official in Trump's administration to date, as the new administration prepares for potential budget battles over housing policy in Congress.
